I think I speak for plenty of people out there when I say it's about time that boxing broadcasts joined the rest of us in the second decade of the 21st Century.
What I mean by that is that I've been bemoaning the lack of an option to purchase pay-per-view streaming video of big fights on the internet instead of always having to be by a TV. That ends tonight, as Top Rank's deal with Showtime (and an alliance with NeuLion) means you can watch the Manny Pacquiao-Shane Mosley card on your computer if you so desire.
For the same price as the PPV television broadcast ($54.99), you can watch the fight online and enjoy some features that you probably have never experienced as a boxing fan prior to tonight. You'll be able to to choose from several audio channels (the Showtime announce team, the Top Rank crew and the international broadcast team), pick which corner to watch between rounds, select different angles on replays and more. The internet feed will also give you access to the post-fight press conference, among other features.
You can hop right to the ordering page at TopRank.tv or find links at Yahoo! Sports, CBS Sports or Showtime Sports. Because of my blogging duties, I'll be going with the reliability of a TV myself, but the extra features sound awesome, and I hope this is something all major boxing cards take a hard look at going forward.
Drop us a line on our contact page or just leave a comment below if you order the fights online and tell us what you thought.
