Here's the round by round coverage of last night's undercard of Alvarez vs. Hatton.  Unfortunately we couldn't cover it live due to prior engagements, but thanks to the magic of the DVR I can show you how the fights went down.  

The first and only televised undercard is between Ponce De Leon and up-and-comer Adrien Broner.

Here we go.

Round 1:
The crowd sounds like they're behind Ponce De Leon.   De Leon uses movement circling the ring.  Broner tries to duck and get inside.  They feel each other out.  Broner looks a bit jumpy.  A "Mexico" chant starcs from the crowd.  Broner misses with a right hand.  They continue to fight hesitantly.  Ponce tries out a body jab.  Broner counters with a right.  Ponce swings and misses.  Ponce pounds 2 body jabs home.

Round 2:
Not much went down in round 1, let's see if they can get some offense going on the second.  Ponce lands a left and Broner misses a counter.  Broner barely lands a straight right.  The crowd starts to boo.  Ponce lands a flurry of body hooks.  The crowd starts to boo again.  Ponce lands another body hook and sneaks one in to the head.  Broner isn't doing much of anything to back up his pre-fight showboating.  Broner gets in a counter right jab.

Round 3:
Ponce picks up the base and begins to throw some power shots, he lands one to the body and a great left hook flush upstairs.  Ponce unleashes power hooks to the body.  There's three more left hooks to the body from Ponce.  Ponce is winning this round easily, keeping body and landing meaningful power shots.  Broner misses another counter before the bell.

Round 4:
Ponce lands a counter left.  They both stop throwing for a solid 20 seconds.  Broner can't seem to execute a game plan against Ponce De Leon.  The crowd starts to boo again.  Ponce gets Broner against the ropes and hammers him with body shots before Broner gets away.  Broner misses with another counter.  Ponce lands a straight left.  Ponce is against the ropes.  Broner lands a couple hooks before the bell.  I still count it for Ponce De Leon.

Round 5:
I see De La Hoya in the first row and Paulie Mallinaggi in the second.  Looking for fighters and celebs has been more exciting than the first 4 rounds of this fight.  Ponce thinks about throwing something but steps back.  Broner lands a short left hand followed by a right hand.  Broner is bouncing around.  The crowd starts to boo once again.  Ponce De Leon leaps forward and they clash heads before clinching.  It doesn't look like it caused a cut.

Round 6:
Broner is starting to find a home for those fast counters.  Tim Bradley is also in the first row.  Ponce De Leon lunges forward with wild hooks.  Now he lands a straight on the chin.  Ponce's punches are beyond sloppy.  Ponce lands a left right on the beltline.  Now a another nice left hand on the chin.  Broner lands a lunging left hook before the bell.

Round 7:
They paw at eachother to begin the round.  Neither lands anything in minute 1.  A few testing jabs are thrown.  Ponce lands a counter left on Broner's chin.  Broner lands a left-right hook combo upstairs.  Ponce lands  sneaky right hand, but Broner lands a right on the inside.  Ponce lands the best punch of the exchange: A right hook.

Round 8:
Nonito Donaire is ringside snapping pictures with photographers.  Ponce misses with an overhand left and Broner misses with a counter opportunity.  Broner fires a jab.  The crowd starts booing once more.  Ponce grazes a straight left.  Broner misses two more counter jabs.  Tough round to score since barely anything happened.

Parker: 10-9 Broner 

Round 9:
 Broner keeps the jab going, but they are at least one foot away from the target.  Broner has a lot to lose in this fight, and he's not fighting like he's behind on the cards or like he even wants to win.  Broner lands two jabs.  Ponce tries to lands a power shot.  Ponce lands a nice left hook.  He lands more hooks to the body.  Ponce is in the corner, but the bell rings before action can erupt.

Round 10:
Ponce comes out swinging.  Broner kees throwing a jab.  Ponce lands a combo plus a left to the body.  Broner comes forward and clinches.  Ponce lands a right upstairs then a stiff jab.  Ponce throws another wild combo to the body.  Ponce has out thrown Broner 2-1 so far.  A cut open over Ponce's eye caused by an accidental headbutt.  They swing away down the stretch.  Good close round to end the fight.
