Tonight's main event is about to get underway between Fernando Montiel and Nonito Donaire in the Bantamweight division. The fighters are about to make their way to the ring.
HBO is currently showing a story showcasing the backgrounds of both fighters. The fight should get started in about 5-10 minutes.
The fighters are in the ring. Donaire has a record of is 25-1 with 17 KOs while Montiel is 44-2.
Here we go.
Round 1
They start out a bit hesitant, feeling each other out. Donaire lands two power shots to begin. Montiel looks a bit gunshy early. Donaire's handspeed is something to behold. He's punches look like lightning. Not much of value landed in that round but I think Donaire takes it for accuracy.
Parker: 10-9 Donaire
Round 2
Donaire comes out strong a lands a flush right hand that knocks Montiel off balance. Donaire lands a good left. Montiel lands a solid jab. They both seem to be looking for counter opportunities. And Donaire lands a brilliant counter left hand and Montiel goes down hard. He barely makes it up by the 10 count, but he's clearly lost in the ring. The ref makes them fight on. Donaire lands one more good punch and the ref stops it. It's over.
The winner by TKO at 2:25 in the round 2 and new WBC and WBO Bantamweight champion, Nonito Donaire
