It's time for the main event. Andre Berto and Victor Ortiz are making their way to the ring. Ortiz comes out first to "We Will Rock You" by Queen.
Here comes Berto to "6 Foot 7 Foot" by Lil Wayne.
Both fighters are in the ring and it's time for the introductions. Ortiz is 28-2-2 with 22 KOs. Berto is 27-0 with 21 KOs.
Here we go.
Round 1:
Ortiz comes out and throws the jab instantly and lands. Berto tries to land a straight right hand, but it misses. Ortiz catches Berto with a left hand and Berto goes down. The ref rules it a trip. Ortiz comes forward again and lands a big flurry. He lands a huge left and Berto goes down hard legitimately. He makes it up, but he looks hurt. Ortiz tries to close the show, but Berto weathers the storm and makes it out of the round.

Round 2:
Berto fell off the stool between rounds. He's still wobbly. They meet in the center of the ring. Ortiz goes back to basics and doesn't look for the KO. Berto re-establishes the jab. Berto lands an uppercut and Ortiz shakes it off. Ortiz lands another power punch and Berto looks concerned. Ortiz gets caught with a right hand and stumbles back. His glove touches the canvas, and it's ruled a knockdown. Ortiz doesn't look too hurt.

Round 3:
Ortiz keeps busy and lands a double jab. Ortiz misses with two power left hooks. Berto uses great movement getting out of the way. Ortiz catches Berto with a great left uppercut. Berto clinches to stay up. Berto makes it through and lands a big right hand. Ortiz continues to come forward. Berto lands a big right hand and Ortiz comes back with a big left. The two fighters grin at each other as they trade shots to end the round.

Round 4:
Berto comes forward with a straight right. Ortiz backs up. Berto lands another big right hand, but Ortiz answers back with his left hook. Ortiz has Berto against the ropes and lands huge combos. Berto is using the ropes to keep him up. His legs aren't there. Berto stumbles more and almost falls down against the ropes. Berto makes it out but eventually winds up against the ropes again. He spent almost the entire round on the ropes while Ortiz peppered him with combos.

Round 5:
Berto comes out bouncing but does look a tad gassed. Ortiz feints and Berto backs up looking cautious. Berto keeps busy and lands his jabs. He follows up with a big right hand and Ortiz clinches. Berto finds his back against the ropes again. Ortiz makes him pay with more combos. They square off in the center again, but Ortiz is staying too busy for Berto to win these rounds.

Round 6:
For some reason, the doctor takes a look at Berto before the round. He says Andre is OK and the round begins. Berto lands a stiff jab. Berto lands another quick left hand. Berto catches Ortiz again with a slick counter right hand. Berto catches Ortiz wish a thunderous right hand and Ortiz goes down hard. He makes it up but looks hurt. Ortiz gets crushed with more power punches and somehow stays up. Ortiz lands a right hand out of nowhere and Berto goes down with five seconds left! He makes it up but looks hurt too. The round’s over.

Round 7:
Both fighters come forward and throw the jabs; they get tied up and both fall. They get up and compose themselves. Berto lands a straight right hand. Berto still looks wobbly. Ortiz gets crushed again by a huge right hand, but he stays up. Ortiz lands a great right hook on the inside. The ref breaks them up, and Berto wobbles. He looks completely gassed now. Ortiz takes that round.

Round 8:
Berto comes in firing the jab. Ortiz lands a straight left to the body. Berto misses with a wide right. Berto lands another huge right hand. Ortiz lands the better punches on the inside, while Berto is landing from a distance. Ortiz is doing a good job getting in and doing damage. Berto misses with a straight right. Close round since not much landed of value.

Round 9:
Berto lands a right hook. Every time these fighters get on the inside, Berto grabs him. The ref has warns him to stop holding. The action slows down in the second minute of the round. Berto lands a left while coming forward but ends up slipping and going through the ropes. He gets himself turned back around, and the fight continues. Ortiz gets warned for punching to the back of the head. The ref says if he gets caught again, he's losing a point.

Round 10:
Berto comes forward and looks newly energized. He lands a jab and follows with a right hand. Ortiz lands a clean punch and Berto acts hurt like he was punched in the back of the head. The ref deducts a point. Ortiz uses the extra time to come back firing. They trade huge punches, but Ortiz is landing the best of them. Ortiz lands a couple huge left hands, and Berto looks gassed again. The ref breaks up a clinch, and Berto looks at the screen to see the clock. Ortiz finishes strong with a big left.

Round 11:
They both come out firing and trade blows once again. Berto gets himself against the ropes again. Berto looks at his corner and looks at the clock again, and it’s only halfway through the round. Ortiz lands a big combo against the ropes. Berto looks tired. Ortiz lands another big left hand. Ortiz takes down another round.

Round 12:
Berto's corner tells him he needs a KO to win the fight and has to come out firing. They touch gloves in the center. Ortiz comes out with the jab. Berto lands a right hook. Ortiz lands a left to the body. Berto lands a big right hand, but Ortiz continues to come forward. Ortiz lands another big left hand. They scrap in the center of the ring. It's tough to tell who's getting the better of the exchanges. One minute left. Ortiz keeps the pressure on down the stretch. The fight ends with both fighters firing away.

The judges score the bout 115-110, 114-112, 114-111, all to the winner by unanimous decision… and new WBC welterweight titleholder… "Vicious" Victor Ortiz
Ortiz says he's blessed and thanks Berto. He wanted to send a message to the doubters from his last outing. He adds he that he studied tape of Berto's fight with Collazo.
Larry Merchant asks Ortiz if he thinks he should be added in the Pacquiao sweepstakes. Ortiz says absolutely.
Berto says if people watched his previous fights, they'll know this fight doesn't represent how he fights. He gives credit to Ortiz for being a great fighter. Berto says he wants to get back in the gym and hopefully prepare for a rematch.
